The genius of this record may be lost to some because of the lyrical content and premature judgment that this record will most assuredly face, but upon listening to these songs, such genius should become apparent. This album exudes a love for the art of sampling and various strains of electronic music. It is equal parts juke, footwork, house, dnb, jungle, and hip-hop, but Jayhood combines these influences in an evocative manner and has a surprising emotional range for music that is entirely suited for the dance floor. Within these songs are snapshots of various aspects of not only jersey culture but African-American electronic music culture as it has developed and matured throughout the past few decades.
